Episode Transcription

[00:00:00] CORY: Welcome to Hindsight Hacking I'm Cory Carter

[00:00:06] RON: and I'm Ron Cool this podcast we've hacked hundreds of entrepreneurs, hindsight to help you the listener with better foresight. Now, guys, if you want to know all about what we can do to help you focus on being you head over to get H h.com keep pushing through those ups and downs. that we all will have

[00:00:37] CORY: we're still going to have amazing conversations with amazing people. Hindsight hacking boils down to amazing conversations with some amazing people

[00:00:52] all right, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of hindsight hacking and today's guest. We have a power duo, the one the [00:01:00] onlyCharlene and Noelle the challenge Queens themselves. They are the co-founders of the CQ event agency. I'm guessing CQ stands. Challenge Queens could be wrong, but I'm guessing that is the case, but the challenge Queens have impacted and empowered thousands of individuals seeking breakthrough movement through the power of 31 virtual live events. And honestly, I'm super excited about this conversation because. Ron and I, we love live events and we've been telling people how they do it wrong all the time. So now you can either tell us that we are wrong or we can gloat a little bit because we were right. But without further ado, Charlene, Noel, welcome to the show.

[00:01:44] NOELLE: Hey, thank you guys so much. That's awesome. I have to say, like, we've been really busy. So now it's actually 34 virtual events. It's just been tickety-boo and we love supporting people as they put their message [00:02:00] out into the world. Through the power of virtual events. So thank you guys so much for having us. I really do appreciate it. Like-minded people. I can tell that right away. So I'm eager to see what you tell people about events.

[00:02:12] RON: I'm scared already. Like I'm like Corey, you set up the show and we should just end it now. Cause like I'm married. So I know when I'm wrong. So this is scary now I can't be wrong at work. If I'm wrong at work, we're all in trouble. So we have to be right. We have the right anyway, before we get too far into it. Why don't you bring the audience up to speed and give them a little bit more about you guys.

[00:02:34] NOELLE: Yeah, I'd love to. So I'm Noelle, I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada, and, you know, during all of the restrictions and all of that stuff. I have an interior design business with my husband here in Nova Scotia, and we couldn't go into people. So for the first little while I made cupcakes and cookies with my kids and all that fun stuff. And then a few months later, I was like, I need to do some, I need to work on my business. I need to figure out a way to bring this online. I [00:03:00] need to do something else with my time, get my wheels spinning a little bit. So I saw this movement based marketing course. By Pedro Adeo, and that was in June, 2020. And we, I just enrolled in it as something to do something, to grow my business as I was kind of stuck at home. And so I met the lovely Charlene there. She was, she was in there with her life coaching business. I was in there. With my interior design business, we also manage a number of Airbnbs here in Nova Scotia. And so I was going to run a challenge after we took this course around teaching people how to upgrade their Airbnb kickstart and run their Airbnbs for the first time, even in the midst of the crazy times we were experiencing. And so I was just trying to take my knowledge real my business online, same time Charlene was doing the same thing. Her daughter had health compromisation during the pandemic. And so she was at home with her and she had the same feeling like, how am I going to take this online? I can't go meet with [00:04:00] clients right now.

[00:04:00] And so how do I do this online? So she engaged and enrolled in the course as well. And we met each other there and just naturally encouraged each other. Brainstormed ideas, strategize ideas. You should talk about this. You should do this. I mean, we really didn't know what we were doing. We had never done a virtual event before. And then we also had some other friends in there and one of them was a pig farmer from Ohio. He ran a challenge called women wine in the word. He was also a pastor. So he was a pig farmer, had a renovations business and was also pastoring. So had very little time and a really low tech situation. And so he was like, I'm just going to run this thing. For my local community, you know, the church women or whatever. And he was from a really small town and he launched his event and got 800, by the end of it, he had 876 women in his challenge organically. And so he was like, what am I going to do with these women for seven weeks, he was doing a Bible study with them over the course of seven weeks. He was like, [00:05:00] what am I going to. With these women for seven weeks and these full-time jobs. And so Charlene out of the kindness of her heart hopped in there and was like, I'm going to help you all moderate. I'll be the admin, like whatever you need to do. I'm at home with my daughter. I have the time that you don't have. And so she just showed up and started serving his community. And I heard the buzz on the virtual street, you know, so I went to register for his challenge just to see what the buzz was about. Guys. It was like a horrible registration form. I love you Char, but it was like horrible. She was like, I was like, do you want me to like throw a Google form together or something? And five minutes for you? Like, I can fix this. You're going to lose these emails because it was like a 16 step process. And she was like, there was just overwhelm over there. Right. She was like, oh my gosh, talk to David. Yes.come come, help

[00:05:47] CHARLENE: You're on the team.

[00:05:49] NOELLE: So I did, I just, you know, and that's what kind of can happen when you just decide I can help somebody and you don't pass them by, but you extend your hand and [00:06:00] reach out with what you know, and what you can do to help so I did some graphics for them. I put together a Google form and I did his email automation for him and all pro bono. It was just wanting to help other people during a tricky time in life. And he had a good message to get out to the world. He wanted to help all of these almost 900 women. Right. And so we did that over the course of seven weeks. And in that time we also helped two other friends. We had met in the course. And after that, the word kind of got out there in that community that Noel and Charlene were doing this thing. And we also are. joking and like on the phone with each other one night, like we're good. I like these challenge Queens now. Huh? I was like, that's really good. That's really good. She's like, I'm just going to see if the domain's available. Like she's like it's available. I'm like, hahaha like oh yeah, I get it. Like, we'll see. We'll see what happens like whatever and then we just kept going and we kept going and then November happened and we kind of had a lull, like a very short lull but [00:07:00] there was just like a week or two where no one came knocking and I like leaned in. I was like, Hey Charlene, do you like doing this? Like, do you like working with like, what are we doing here? Cause we totally fell into it. And we just kept saying yes, and we had put a little price list to what we were doing. Cause it was taking up a lot of time and we realized this business was developing without. Us ever really planning it and I'll let Charlene take off from there.

[00:07:25] CHARLENE: Yeah. Thanks so much. So, so it was right around that time in the fall when Pete Vargas was rolling his event called your message matters. And we went to it and he was talking all about where are you in your business right now start momentum scale. And he was giving some suggestions for how to lean into your messaging to share it powerfully through the. power of Stages. So we're in the momentum bucket accidentally. Cause again, we didn't ask for this, the business chose us. So we're like, well, if we're going to do this as a business, let's set it up properly like a business then. And let's actually put our minds together [00:08:00] and figure out how we want to do this because just the two of us is a recipe recipe for burn. So we went into the think tank together through the winter, and we put together a mastermind to train other people to do what we do, but it wasn't just anybody. What we realized was a big thing with us and what made us different from everybody else is that we're connecting with people on the other side of the camera. It's not just about hitting the light button. It's not just about managing the door, you know, in the waiting room at zoom and managing that mute button. Everybody knows that's like a full-time job on its own, but there's a lot of other things that happen. And what Noel and I realized too, is because of the diversity between our backgrounds, like mine's and private investigation. And cool. So I have a lot of the neuroscience interests. I like understanding behavior and how it affects people. People, Noelle has got an extensive background in community development, interior design, whatnot. So from these very unique lenses and a whole lot of strategy and this accidental inside out view [00:09:00] of events, coupled with the way that we're positioned in our hearts to really serve and make sure that people have the transformations that they have, because it's fun. When people are having transformations, we feel like we won too. So it's really easy. It comes natural to us. We're naturally community led people. So we're like, well, we need other people who are positioned like us in the heart first. And then we can train them for the skills that we ended up developing. And so we launched our moderators mastermind and in-house certificate programs. So we can have a framework. That goes with this process to walk people through and we rebranded relaunched in January and we've now officially had our first cohort go through ran our own challenge together, and actually talked about our business because here's a fun fact business came to us. We didn't actually do any lead gen. We were just out there doing the work and serving, and what we realized was man the farmer gave us a seed. He gave us a seed. All we did was show [00:10:00] up and continue to water it and nurture it and serve in the way that help people light up the world. And by doing that a business unfolded and it continues to grow and evolve in really unexpected and beautiful ways. And we just feel honored that we get to like have this business where we get to breathe. Light back into other people. So they can like ripple that love into the world. It's so it's like the most amazing energy to be a part of. Not only that we get to learn while we earn, like we can show up at pretty much any networking event now. And like rock it on a vast majority,of topics and we've got to meet really cool people. and now we get to help other people learn with the unpredictability of the pandemic and everything that came with it we still don't know what's going to happen. So now we can take families that do want to have a business from home, or they want a hybrid and extend the reach, help give them a vehicle, like essentially like a business in a box where we can help them figure that out so that they're not [00:11:00] ever in this position where they feel helpless and vulnerable to outside circumstances. Now you have the control back in your hands again, but you can actually have fun and wake up excited again, like we do. We actually love our job. It's yeah, it's just an honor to be in this position. So that's what happened. And now we get to meet cool people. Like you,

[00:11:22] RON: we just prepped the whole show and Corey is supposed to go. I have to say like three things really fast. I'm sorry. Okay. So while you were talking, I jumped out of the camera for like five seconds. And you had talked about in predictability, the hugest wasp I've ever seen in my life was flying under my desk. Okay. So I probably. Freaked out and died a little bit. So that's one, two, the similarities between how you guys came up with the name and how we came up with the name is crazy and how you are doing your business and how your business started. [00:12:00] Super crazy similarity. And why you do your best. And why we do our business shows over it. Like it's like so aligned. It's frigging believable. Okay, Cory back to you. Enjoy your day.

[00:12:13] CORY: And what I was going to talk about too, like it's so refreshing. You're not in it to necessarily make money you're in it to impact you're in it to let people get their message out. Right. If you watch any of our shows, Most likely you'll see, or hear us say impact. You'll see impactors somewhere. Right? We have a whole nother podcast called the impactors. We have a mastermind called the impactors mastermind and our whole message and goal and everything we believe is we want to impact the people that are making an impact in the world. Right. And if we can help just a sliver, right. A lot of times it's through the podcast aspect and getting their message. Then it allows us to impact a greater amount of people. And we don't w like, we'll never be the most expensive. We'll never, you know, [00:13:00] be like this super crazy out of reach out of touch. Like, that's not us. We want to be able to help folks like yourself and others that have a message that they need to get out. And then we want to try to help those people, anybody that comes to us and they're like, number one goal is to make a million dollars. It's like, no, you're the wrong person. We don't work with you. You know, like, yeah. But if you want to change a million lives, And a part of that process, you make a million dollars now let's talk, right? Like let's change lives first. And so I love that part of like, that's like the main point I got from that entire story is you are both out there to help and serve people. And so, you know, hats off, you know, Ron and I obviously we appreciate that in a, a good way. And so, and then the actual, the Ron mentioned the way you, we, our business started like you had the farmer and that you watered the seed, right? You keep watering, nurturing, you know, as we [00:14:00] navigated to figure out where we wanted, we had one client or we had one person that Ron was doing a graphic for, and he can tell the story if he wants later, but basically. It was a $200 or 50 to, I dunno, something cheap to get this guy on a podcast, cover art, but then the guy was like, oh, I'm watching tomorrow or Friday. And Ron's like, if he'd done the stuff to get on iTunes and hadn't done any of this stuff and then ended up just helping and serving and staying up. till one in the morning to make sure he had everything, he didn't expect anything in return. And what we did get in return, it was like 20 grand and referral business. Right? Like it was people came to us because of being out there just to help someone without an expectation in return. And so how would you, whoever, I don't know who wants to answer this one, but how would you kind of just embrace that and tell people to other people to embrace. Like when you start something and you're just on a mission to serve, karma comes back and responds positively for you. And, [00:15:00] and so, so people just need to accept that and really just move forward in that direction. And the world would be better place

[00:15:06] NOELLE: yeah. And I almost like jumped in and interrupted you for a second when you were saying that, because that is exactly like, but my heart is just bubbling. It's like we have not promoted ourselves. We've run 34 events between a couple of her on and the rest being clients 34 online events and a little over a year, like 13, 14 months, maybe now. And all by word of mouth. And it's really because people felt loved. They felt cared for, they felt like we were behind them as their team, that the word just spread.

[00:15:39] And so if you want your business to grow, what better way than just like showing up and serving from a place of skill and heart heartledness. If that's a word.

[00:15:51] CHARLENE: Yeah. And giving people an experience of you, right? That's why we like coming and talking to other people and just kind of sharing the message forward. Like [00:16:00] we just took a really unpredictable situation and followed the clues forward. We didn't overthink things we thought we'd have to. At first, like the way I met Noelle at this event was I went to we're both lifelong learners. That's the funnel that led us there. So I went to Eben Pagan. He was filming his audio book for opportunity. I thought this was quite poetic. I love science. So I went to opportunity and Pedro Adeo bounded in as a guest speaker and he was talking about his challenge model for movement based marketing. And so I followed him over there and then this whole thing I'm folded and I was moving forward to a coaching business and what not and I had this idea of what I thought that needed to look like. I needed all of those certificates on the wall. I needed to be over called qualified and what I didn't realize, we ended up doing a bunch of work over the past year on this perfectionism thing. Oh, it strangled me for years, but I didn't know. That's what was actually stopping me from being successful this whole time. I wasn't giving myself permission. In [00:17:00] fact, what I didn't realize as I put that in front of me as a barrier that I can never, ever achieve. So there are a lot of projects that when I'm finished and why, because I wanted it to be a hundred percent and Noelle and I ran an event really early on where one of the hosts gave us all permission, the whole group to move on 70%, seven out of 10 go, it's getting enough. You need to leave some wiggle room. And man, that was game changer for Noella and I from then onward. We're not comfortable with 70 we're. We're a hard 80. But we do go because things ebb and flow, things change, but there's enough room to breathe and maneuver when you give yourself that permission. So I just thought I'd share that for too, for those people that are looking to move online, maybe just look at what's right in front of you and do that one step and pay attention to who's showing up. Right now, what resources are being made available for you? They're right there for you. You actually just need to take off the blinders and look around and just take [00:18:00] the next step. You know, there's many people refer to the hero's journey and there is always a key. There's always a key, but you're not going to open a whole bunch of doors at one time or go kicking through the walls. You need to find the one key to get to that door. Once you're through that door. There's another key and keep following the clues forward.

[00:18:19] RON: So true, so true I mean, again, the whole done beats perfect thing. Like that's Corey and I's mantra. When we were launching our show, like we tell people, go listen to our trailer. I also have said, we should stop saying that because it's slowly climbed up to our top listened as episodes. And it was bad. It was bad. Right? Like we, we riff on things and we tried to like script it out and we had to try to have it be perfect. And there was like three lines that took us two and a half hours to say like, seriously, that's ridiculous. Like we're used to talking on stage, we're used to doing all this sort of stuff and we can't see three lines. Like what's the problem. And if it was up to me, we probably would still never have a show. Because it wasn't exactly how I envisioned it in my head. And then what, [00:19:00] the other piece that we learned was people want to follow you along your journey. If you come across like Uber crisp and like out of the gate, you're not super relatable to your people. Right. And so that's something that resonated with me as well as the done done beats. Perfect. So when we're talking about events and you guys are talking about events, what's your favorite part of the event? Like I know I have my favorite part of like birthing a brand. I think that's my favorite part is like birthing it and everything else after it's done.

[00:19:33] And it's like, yeah, that's fine. You know what I mean? But what's like your favorite

[00:19:37] NOELLE: . You know, truthfully, I'll go first. I'm sure Charlene has a different one, but or maybe they're the same, but I've actually never considered that. So thank you for asking. And I really think it is the end. So we come on and we strategize with people. And then during the event say it's a five day challenge or something. We're there with them live, but we meet with them half an hour before and 15 [00:20:00] minutes later, the 15 minutes say the event ended on a Friday, the 15 minutes. On that Friday, that we're debriefing with the people.it can go a little long with the host and it doesn't even matter, like their card hasn't closed yet. So it's not vanity metrics. It's not, you know, how much money did I make off this? They're not looking at their pock pocket book, but they're in this zone. I just got goose bumps there in this zone of I did it and I got my message out to the world. I'm not as afraid as I once was. And thank you guys for holding my hands through this and to be able to be positioned, to be the person that helped them get their message out like that is so powerful and makes me so happy. And oftentimes, like we've had leaders cry in that 15 minutes because they just. Can't believe that they did this thing, that's been in the back of their head or that they've been [00:21:00] stuffing down in their pocket or whatever, for years sometimes, you know, and they finally got their heart out into the world and we were able to be a part of that and to see them realize that they accomplished this thing is like priceless. Totally priceless

[00:21:17] CHARLENE: yeah. And for me, that's really interesting that you said that. Noelle, I have two that kind of go hand in hand. The first one is at the very beginning. So we've decided that we want to work together. The energy's there when we actually go into that strategy session, that first one, and we're collaborating, that's my jam. That's Ooh, love nothing more than because things are still a little bit up, even though somebody has their outline, they have their plans. What is it really? And when we land on the knee, it like rings like a bell. It's like so much fun. I'm like, great. So day one is going to be this B two, and then we get to iron it all out. But I'm kind of a details person. So we have like plug and play templates. So I'm [00:22:00] like here, go fill in your boards. So excited, but there's always a little bit of as when people are like us and like Noelle and I we're so used to doing so many things on our own. So there's that sense of control, right? And when you invite a team in it doesn't matter who it is. You have to let go and trust that they're going to do what they said. They're going to do. In the way that you understood how they were going to help you. And so there's always this little bit of like, unless they've had an experience where they've seen what we do, I'm referring more to the people who haven't seen what we do, but they've heard about us and they're interested when they first go into it. They're still holding on really tight. We can see them in the chat, even though we've had these conversations, we want to have your recordings looking amazing for the end. There's more things you're going to do with these recordings later. Let's keep looking amazing. So they're still holding on really tight and trying to do all of the things. And it's usually like day two it's right around day two. There's a physical, like literally, cause we show up early. So there's a [00:23:00] little like physical release. You've got me, but it's like a realization, but it's a physical shift in the energy and then they just let it go. That to me is huge because that just told me, like, you've actually got it.

[00:23:17] NOELLE: Sometimes we Just text each other. There it is like, you can see people's shoulders go down their smiles bigger. They're just more relaxed. And there they are. That is the true representation.

[00:23:30] CHARLENE: Then at that point It's super fun because now they're going to let us wear our hats so that they can show up really strong and vice versa. If they need something from us, then they start to lean on us.

[00:23:41] They'll normally everything falls into place, but there's that you have to build trust. And it's really tricky, right? There are a lot of times, how many times have we all been burned by a team? At some point in our life, we have we've handed something over and they haven't gotten it. And so then it takes us twice as much time we get where it comes from. So, so that for me is just really. [00:24:00] It's meaningful. It means that we've served at a high enough level where the trust has been established now, and now it can develop into a friendship, which they do. So, yeah.

[00:24:10] CORY: I love that. That's, it's funny. We do, we call it a business intensive for a lot of folks, and it is a big, long form that someone fills out and then we get on and we spend three hours together and it's that same like strategy session that you're talking about. And I, I just, I love going through that. And I, we do the same thing. I'm like, Ron.

[00:24:28] RON: Yep.

[00:24:28] CORY: We got the right answer on that one. Right? Like that's th these are the things that can truly make a difference in long run. And it's at this beginning of the relationship that all of a sudden, when the light bulb goes on and then everyone can start running again the right direction. Right. And then the relationship piece to that, that as established. Because of how deep you can go really right off the bat with the kind of that bigger strategy session. So, yeah. Good question, Ron I liked it okay.

[00:24:56] RON: I have my one or two a year we're good now [00:25:00]

[00:25:01] okay. So

[00:25:01] CORY: let's talk about, you do challenges, masterminds, summits, all of these type of events. So walk us through kind of. The, the different aspects that you like and that you do. And, you know, cause for me, I, you know, summits could be really good, but I believe they must have kind of a theme and a direction versus like 30 speakers. And everybody's talking about different things in the cross three days, you know, and then a challenge like Ron and I have done our own challenge. While we might not have had a huge amount of success with the amount of people that showed up. I, I love the way we executed and the content that we came up with for it. So what's kind of like your favorite, you know, virtual event that you get to play in

[00:25:47] CHARLENE: so I think our specialty just cause we were trained that way and we've seen so much success and the way that Pedro Adeo specifically trains challenges, just we've seen a lot of people had an experience with a lot of people who [00:26:00] do that. So I'll speak to that. And specifically a zoom to facebook experience zoom to a private Facebook experience. There's something different, even Noelle and I on one of our challenges decided to go in a little bit differently. So we weren't interacting the same way in zoom. We were there as a vessel through E cam into zoom and then the whole vessel into Facebook. And while the presentation looked really great. Noelle, and I felt a little bit disconnected from our audience, from our attendees that were there because we couldn't interact in the energy and the same way. And it was really interesting. We're like, that's what it is. This is how it's different. It was, it's kind of fun when we get to play the host, but we're also on the other side at the same time. So it keeps that empathy nice and strong. So the zoom to Facebook experience is really important because people can actually have. Real connections in the moment. So many people are lonely and feeling disconnected right now. Right? So challenges and summits, we like to take [00:27:00] people. The way we were trained is to take people through a logical process, a measurable impact in that amount of time, what is really possible.

[00:27:10] So if you're going to do a summit, what is the theme of the day? What are people actually going to accomplish that day? What can they come empty handed with. And at the end of the day, walk away confident that they could do this on their own, or it's a no brainer to take that offer really? How were these guests weaving together to compliment each other? It needs to be logical and make sense and not something too big and broad. What is the message that you want to convey? And then we also encourage people when we're talking to them. It's think of the long-term. If you're running a challenge, is this just one-off how often do you want to run them? If this is part of your marketing plan for the year, then why don't you start at the beginning, craft something small in your challenge, five steps to accomplish what at the very beginning and to encourage people to [00:28:00] go, is there actually pre-work to this step? And if there is. That's your challenge and your offer is that next step. And then to just kind of bounce it back and forth like that, and same with the summits. And so that's kind of how we think about it, but each day would build upon itself with the micro, win they're getting some movement in their life. But like I said, top to bottom end of the week, whether it's a challenge of summit mastermind, execution workshop, it doesn't matter. What can they leave with? So they are like, I'm ready to rock. I've made that step forward.

[00:28:32] RON: Well, okay, so I'm going to, I'm going to ask the question to see if we're right or wrong. Cory nervous. My mic cut out and the camera might turn off. So you never know. So we might just disconnect everything. No, I'm kidding. All right. So we have helped some people with challenges or not challenges, summits, and we have a strong theory. That if it's your show podcasts, summit, whatever, and you have [00:29:00] experts on your show, you should still be a subject matter expert of whatever it is you're trying to do, and you should be positioned as such. So if you're on a summit and you're just doing interviews the whole time, that does not translate as you being the subject matter. expert.

[00:29:16] CHARLENE: I agree with you.

[00:29:20] RON: Show's over yay.

[00:29:21] NOELLE: So As an example, like we have an upcoming challenge August 23rd to 27th, and we do have four guest speakers throughout, but in like Charlene and I will be the host. And so on day one, two and three, we will start off by talking and talking about the subject matter to show that we know a little bit about the subject matter, but bring in an expert in the area to support that. And then we are, you know, showing their value and they're also showing our value and our authority in the event at the same time and then [00:30:00] on day four, it will only be Charlene and I speaking. So we'll have a whole day to ourselves and we're talking about the power of team, because we believe that we have become experts in that area. We do know that you get further faster if you have a team behind you. And so we really want to encourage people to do that and to show them ways to do that. You guys that doesn't necessarily mean like you have to go hire five full-time people. Like that's not what team looks like, especially in this virtual day and age. Right. But like, I think we still wrap our minds around that. Like, I can't have employees. It's like, well, that doesn't necessarily, it doesn't really look like that anymore. You know, especially if you're running an event or like, Building a funnel or whatever it is that you're trying to do. So, and then on day five, we'll wrap it up with another guest speaker, but we'll still speak that day. So just to exemplify what you were just asking, Ron, we definitely agree with you.

[00:30:51] CHARLENE: Yeah.

[00:30:52] NOELLE: Absolutely for the win.

[00:30:54] CHARLENE: I don't know. Are you guys okay if I do mention what it's about, just to kind of

[00:30:58] RON: No let's do it

[00:30:59] CHARLENE: let people [00:31:00] give people an actual visual of how things build upon themselves.

[00:31:03] RON: Yea go for it.

[00:31:05] CHARLENE: So because we, our team and we support people with their team when they come to us for the strategy session, we noticed that a lot of things sometimes are missing in cert in certain areas. And so our last one was called convert with community. And so we showed people what they could do with their products afterwards, you know, content strategy. high ticket mastermind so on and so forth on this

[00:31:28] NOELLE: How to build community and be original.

[00:31:31] CHARLENE: Yeah, build community and be relational. And so we really went into it and we wrote some branding into it and I'm marketing. How can you communicate your message and all that this event that we put together is about positioning yourself powerfully online on the front end. Everybody has these questions. So yes, there's marketing, but how do you show up? In your brand, how do you, how can you show up in your brand so that you show up as an authority, no matter where you're at in your journey, you're the expert of your experience?

[00:31:59] [00:32:00] Is there a lot of new coaches and consultants? So how can you, how can people experience you through the brand image that you're putting out there and how can you show up really strong? We've got somebody who will help people show up strong in their brands, through their camera coffee. And so we're going to be talking about that day, too.

[00:32:17] A lot of people are still really intimidated about going live or talking on camera again. It's I think it's the perfectionism thing or the impostor syndrome shows up there and it's like, don't try to be anybody that you're not just share from where you are. That's what people want to connect with you and connect you with who you are. They don't want to connect with the certificate. They want to know you. And so the camera confidence coach that we chose has been trained under Roger Love. And so she's just so lost. It was just so awesome because she really helps people. Break out of that really quickly. And so we love her for that. We also invited in somebody from the advanced or reach team from Pete Vargas's team. He's some stage director, Lair Bryant nickels, and he's going to be talking about the power stages, how you go out [00:33:00] and make these connections with different stages and meeting planners to go and communicate your message. So people have an experience of you in your brand. Again. Then the power of team, how we can support and carrying that message forward. And on day five, it's about the power of investing in yourself because a lot of people have this back to front mentality that if you go and invest in these different aspects, that is actually going to set you back. But it isn't. If you make the right strategic choices, what are you investing in? What are you. Investing into position yourself to show up as the authority that you need to be in order to have the outcome that you desire, where are you really at? What do you need to invest in right now? And how can you shift your thoughts so that you can actually positioned properly? So that's what that's all about. And then you roll your event, ideally with it. us but but they can always Do it on their own. We just want to give people the information from all of our experience. So. [00:34:00] yeah.

[00:34:00] CORY: I mean, we definitely let that way you position yourself. It's so funny. When, when Ron and I launched our show, we realized we were not positioning ourselves correctly. Right? And this is where we started with this mentality of the belief that if you run a summit, you should be one of the speakers every single day. Otherwise there'll people that are speakers will be the customer. The people that are listening will buy from the speakers and not. The hosts when our podcast, it was the same thing. Like we were interviewing everybody and then it was like episode 22 or something like that. And we're like, something's not right. We didn't know how to have a solo episode. Obviously it's not solo. Cause there's both of us. It makes it a lot easier by the way. So you can have conversation, but we didn't have, it was like the first time we started with not having guests. And guess what? Like that was the first time we started positioning ourselves. As the authority of our own show. Right? And that's like part of our whole program. is we teach people how to launch a podcast, like don't launch with a bunch of interviews and then only be able to do interviews. Like [00:35:00] you've have to get comfortable being the subject matter expert on your own show. And so it's, it sounds like through some of your stuff, you're doing the exact same thing and making sure people are the subject matter expert of their challenges and summits and so on. So. But I'm going to Ask our one question, hindsight hacking, we have to ask about hindsight. So in hindsight, what's that you went to the challenge and then you followed to where Pete was and Pedro was. And you know, and so in hindsight, as you've stumbled upon your business together, what's the piece of advice that you could give the listeners that you wish you might've known a little bit sooner, but you didn't. Because You just stumbled into everything and, and having the clients come to you.

[00:35:47] NOELLE: I'm going to think about the thing that I wish that I knew, but the thing that I'm glad I found out does that count is I'm really glad. I [00:36:00] found out the true mean of saying yes to the opportunity that's right in front of you and not reasoning a way, but I have another business. I already have this business, so I'm just going to do this thing. But by continuing to say yes at like every single juncture, I now find myself somewhere completely different. Empowering other entrepreneurs, 34 at this point. And then all of their audiences being able to help them only because I continued to say, yeah, I'll see what this is about. I'll see where this is leading what path this is. I don't know. I don't know the direction this path is going, but I'm willing to. To keep walking it until it seems dangerous or until I stumble or something like that. But that, that's kind of the thing that I've gleaned the most in the last year, as well. As in hindsight, I think that I wish I would have learned earlier the power of investing in myself. The power of [00:37:00] investing in my business since starting the challenge Queens of bend agency. As I mentioned, I have an interior design business. The way I look at that business now, since doing this is completely flipped on its head because I've decided to invest in my business in a way that we've decided to invest in our challenge Queen's business, which is getting a coach, getting a mentor. Getting a team. And so now that business, you guys, it was just me and my husband. And in the last 14 months, we now have four managers and five part-time workers. And it's because I realized it wasn't going to go anywhere further than I was experiencing at that moment, if I didn't put people around. And if I didn't invest in my business in that way. And so I wish that I would have known that before 14 months ago. Cause I've owned that business for over five years. but It's never too late and now we're rolling. You know, so that's sort of what, that's my hindsight.

[00:37:58] CHARLENE: I would definitely agree with [00:38:00] Noelle, I have a couple of things to not undervalue my time

[00:38:06] NOELLE: Mic drop.

[00:38:06] CHARLENE: To not under huge lesson, you know, big mindset shift, Noel and I, this is the blessing with partnership. We have really. You know, talk to each other off the ledge. So to speak so many times, right? You're going to, if you're going to entrepreneurship, you're going to keep hitting walls. That's just the way it works. You're bouncing. And then we get used to it and some walls are harder than others. And one of them is really coming around the family time. Right? It's a lot of investment when you're building up your businesses and you gotta be around the people that are breathing life into. There's a lot of, you know, people that are around you who may not understand or catch the vision that you have. Trying to do. You may not fit in. You may be that lion amongst sheep, and you're meant to do big things. And there's not many people who may actually understand that. So it takes a little bit extra time and effort to really breathe into what you need to do. And there are sacrifices that come with that with your time. So if you're [00:39:00] taking the time away from your children, if you're taking that time away from your husband, if you're taking the time away from activities and things that you love, you deserve to put a price tag on that. What is your time worth? Why are you doing this to begin with? Because if you're going to invest that much time, energy, and money into something, then make sure you enjoy it and you can take what you've experienced in your life and move it forward in a way where you feel happy. Getting out of bed again, you are excited about what you do. You do love the people that you're working with. You get to work on your own agenda and help people get real transformation and growth in different areas. So many people are doing. And you can price yourself appropriately and people will respect you because you are showing up in that. And then when you go and spend time with your family, you're not, you're, there's no resentment. There's a negative energy undercurrent there. If you're not pricing your time properly, you know? So that's one and to not overthink it, let go of the outcome. Let [00:40:00] go of the outcome. We are not in control of what the actual plan is. And that kind of spins into what Noel was saying. You know, like we can take the step that's right in front of us and continue to say yes and you'll know what's the right path, because it will a feel good. It'll feel scary, but you somehow know what's right. And you may not be able to put your thumb on it. But you feel like it's the right direction. I would encourage that. And just where that fear face is, and to move forward with the right support someplace. But don't ever think the outcome let it unfold for you because it's most likely going to full and far greater and unexpected ways. And you can possibly imagine.

[00:40:41] RON: I love everything you just said. So anyone that listens to the show, we've said that multiple times, you have to value your time because you have to like its your time. It comes easy to you because it's your special like gift. So value that and the problem with most people, since it comes easy to them, they don't value it because it [00:41:00] comes easy to them and they feel other people, it comes easy too. So I have loved this conversation and we appreciate you guys giving us the time and just hopping on the show and we've enjoyed the conversation. Where can people connect with you? How can they get into your challenge? Like tell him the 411

[00:41:16] NOELLE: yeah, absolutely. So you can go to position yourself, powerfully.com that will be to register for the challenge. We also have a networking group. I believe Corey's in there. Ron. You need to come on over. And so that's called a convert with community. Networking group?

[00:41:35] CHARLENE: That works

[00:41:36] CORY: That seemed like a question right there. Noelle I don't know,

[00:41:38] NOELLE: we changed the name. And so it was a bit of a question not going to lie. They convert, yea no, convert with community networking. That's what that's the word I was missing? See, circle so convert with community networking circle on Facebook and. We encourage people to network in there. We do live interviews in there every Wednesday, just [00:42:00] to spur other entrepreneurs on and really just add value. We want to see people succeed. We've fallen into this and we've been able to, you know, grow a business in this way. And we want other people to. Witness other people doing the same thing. And if we can build them up in some way, then we're happy to do that. So we do that. We also encourage people to drop whatever they're doing in there. We have a business directory in there and you can sign up for, and we, it really truly is a networking group just to help. Take off all those hats on top of your head and delegate them a little bit. And there's lots of people in nine group, there's just under 500 entrepreneurs who are all like service page based or coaching. And so we're here to help each other out in our hashtags, stronger together, further, faster, because that's where our hearts are at. And that's what our group is about. So come on over.

[00:42:52] CHARLENE: There is a caveat with that though, that my caveat is we don't want people to know. We don't want people to be spammy. [00:43:00] Pammie's no spammy Pammie's in there.

[00:43:02] NOELLE: Every time, she has to say it.

[00:43:04] CHARLENE: If you have to say It

[00:43:05] NOELLE: I'm gonna make her a T-shirt

[00:43:07] CHARLENE: I need the t-shirt because

[00:43:09] CORY: No Spams or anything

[00:43:12] CHARLENE: people have different things, but I want to know who you are. If we're going to shop there, I want to connect with you. So we welcome people who want to come in. You can create a post, you can go live, you can drop your link but tell us a bit about who you are. Why is this important to you? What's your, what's a story that kind of goes along with what's going on. What's the nature behind your event, you know, share with us because we want people to actually connect with you and your brand. Hence the challenge that we have coming out, right. Let's get to know each other and that way. You'll come talk to mind. Oh. And we encourage people to use the group strategically. There's some people who go in there religiously once a week and make, and just go live or create this really great content post. Well, you know what, when it comes to, for instance, productivity, I know who's going to be top of my mind. So use it [00:44:00] the way that it's intended to be, because there's not a lot of places where you can just go and drop links and talk about yourself. We've created one because we recognize that there's a need there. So just have at it.

[00:44:10] CORY: Perfect.

[00:44:10] NOELLE: Just don't be a Spammy Pammie

[00:44:13] CORY: No, Spammy Pammie and add some value. So, all right. Noelle Charlene, it's been a blast. I knew the first time we had a conversation that we would have an amazing interview and you did not disappoint. So thank you so much for joining the show and I can't wait for your challenge. And I think Ron and I are going to hang out in your group and be interviewed at some point down the road as well. So yeah, looking forward to that and the continued relationship here and again, thanks for joining us here today.

[00:44:42] CHARLENE: Thank you.

[00:44:44] NOELLE: Bye

[00:44:44] CORY: All right, Ron, I don't know about you, but it was a fun interview and I love to be proved right. With our message of how we tell people with summits and challenges. So that was an added bonus to this

[00:44:58] RON: it's a win-win it was like talking to a [00:45:00] mirror. It was phenomenal. It was a very interesting conversation.

[00:45:03] CORY: Yeah, you look good with long hair. So.

[00:45:06] RON: I didn't know what I looked like as a girl, but now I know it was a really good conversation and it's nice to know. We might've been on track with something.

[00:45:15] CORY: Yep. Yep. All right. Well, without tooting our own horn any further let's, let's talk about a couple of takeaways, a couple of gold nuggets, a couple of amazing facts that we gathered from that conversation that with Noelle and Charlene,

[00:45:30] RON: I say this all the time, like there's so many, right. And as soon. How about, how about we go with this? We haven't talked about this in a while help or give without spec expecting something in return. And I promise you, you will get more than you ever asked for. I promise if you give and help others without an expectation, it'll come back to tenfold okay. So that's number one. Number two. I [00:46:00] liked this one. I liked this one. Be aware and be ready for opportunity and be ready to say yes to it. Okay.

[00:46:08] CORY: Yeah,

[00:46:09] RON: because you never know when it's going to come. Right? Yeah. We talk about moments and seizing the moments and being ready for moments. And unless you're ready to take control of the moment and say, yes, the is going to pass you by.

[00:46:25] CORY: Yeah. Powerful that like, honestly asking the hindsight question today. And getting the answers that we got from both Charlene and Noelle was probably some of my favorite responses to that. So it was the true meaning of saying yes, that you just mentioned like super powerful. That was exactly the one I had in my mind, but I'm just going to expand on eV everything they both said on the hindsight. So the power of investing in yourself.

[00:46:53] RON: Oh my gosh. That was gonna be the other one that I was gonna say

[00:46:55] CORY: and your business, right? Like, soNoellel went from a five-year-old business with [00:47:00] nobody working for her, except for her and her husband to now there's multiple full-time employees like come on the power of investing in yourself and your business and you and I have done a good job of being mindful of that since we started, whether it be a coach or a product or a computer, right? Like we're buying full of what we're investing in, not frivolously, but just PR with intention. Right. And then, I mean, this is something that we learned the hard way, and that was what Charlene was talking about is not undervalued. Our time, right? Like, no, your time know the amount of time you're putting in for a business that takes you away from a family. So value, value it accordingly. And I know like we learned that the hard way. And so it was such a good reminder to hear it and to think about it again, because it has been a little while on that. So

[00:47:51] RON: Yea it's perfect timing

[00:47:53] CORY: yup. All right. So, you know, everyone, we have a couple of call to actions and with every [00:48:00] show, but I want to just call this one out. Anybody listening today, head on over. To position yourself, powerfully.com and jump in the challenge starts August 23rd, 2021. So if you listened to this after that, I'm sure you can still jump in at least that week, but if you listened to it after that week, then I'm sorry. You can skip the rest of this, but ultimately go on to position yourself. Powerfully dot com and register for this free challenge that Noelle and Charlene are giving us the opportunity to be a part of.

[00:48:37] RON: All right, guys. Thanks for listening.

[00:48:39] CORY: Did you know that hindsight hacking media agency, we do all things podcasts from launch. If you're already doing to 10,000 downloads in a week, we handle everything. All you have to do record it. And yeah,

[00:48:50] FEMALE: guys, if you're launching a podcast, get with these guys, I could not honestly hit the charts without them.

[00:48:56] MALE: I'm not getting paid for this But working with both of you, [00:49:00] the professionalism and the system that you guys had to launch, the podcast you guys killed it.

[00:49:06] RON: We want to help the impactors create an impact by just letting you be you and not worry about all this other crazy stuff connect with us. All the links will be in the show notes. See you next time. Go create an impact.
