[00:00:00] CORY: Welcome to the impactors podcast. I'm Cory Carter

[00:00:04] RON: and I'm Ron. Cool.

[00:00:32] CORY: And today's topic is.

[00:00:34] RON: Who you serve.

[00:00:35] CORY: That's a right now the biggest question of the day is do you know who you serve? Right. You got to understand why it's important to know who you serve. You got to understand why it's important to know like you growing, right. But then with knowing who you serve, knowing your ideal client. Again, we talked about this a little bit before of, uh, earlier in the week about we have one [00:01:00] client is so hyper has so successful, but has every detail. Of who she serves listed so much. So it was in so detailed that Ron. You know, you have an image of this person in your head.

[00:01:15] RON: It is crazy. Going back to that, knowing who you serve piece and, and kind of writing up an avatar, if you will, and giving it a name, I always thought that was unrealistic, right? It was just real allistic and telling you w after hearing.

[00:01:30] CORY: So ultimately you go and run a Facebook ad.and If anybody out there has run a Facebook ad, you know what I'm talking about? It asks you different questions. One, how old is the pur you know, a group of people that you want to serve, right? And you're like, ah, 10 to 30, 30 to 50, 35 to 55, whatever the numbers are, knowing who you serve is way beyond that. Knowing who you serve, it's not a range of 20, 30, 40, 50 years it's [00:02:00] a my person is 48 to 50, right? Like it's the small, small range. Not necessarily that big one. Right. And so, so maybe again, I know we keep talking about this client that just wows us in this. Now every time we're doing work for people and trying to get their voice, like we're drilling down into who their client is. And so that's what, how, why, why we find it so important. Right. So maybe give a few more examples, right? Like I, I just was talking about the age, but what, give a few more examples of how. You were had come to get such an image of this client avatar in your head.

[00:02:40] RON: Absolutely. There's age. There's a couple of the statements that I must share. One. She has clothes in her closet that don't fit her anymore. That she's had since highschool. She sits on the couch and watches X, Y, X, T V shows. And she doesn't go do X, Y, and Z, because she's afraid of how she looks. I mean, it was Uber specific. [00:03:00] Right. And so, yeah, it's awe inspiring. Cause like, even though we're pretty good at who we're serving. We're not that good.

[00:03:11] CORY: No, but we want to be, and that's why we're talking now, right? Like us going us having this client and seeing this to know and understand how it can be done. But now we, we understand it so much that we're now teaching it and we're implemented in our other clients. We're implemented it for ourselves, right? Like all of this is so. Good that it was too good not to share. Right?

[00:03:37] RON: Absolutely. Absolutey.

[00:03:39] CORY: So it's knowing that age, knowing what they have in their closet, knowing that they're lacking confidence. Like if you don't know what your client, what your ideal customer is or needs or how they are, what movies are they seeing? What music are they listening to? Right. Like get so hyper [00:04:00] focused. But there's, it will be impossible for you not to find them

[00:04:04] RON: agreed and understanding you have to fight your inner. I don't want to get that granular, right? Yeah. Because that's, what's holding you back. That's what's making it so you can't get to be the who you're trying to get to. Right. Because you haven't said, Hey, Corey, I'm talking to you. Listen to what I'm saying. Because at the end of the day, when you're talking to a who pro-tip, don't go on a Facebook live and say, welcome Facebook, welcome this. Welcome that you're not talking to a single person. You're talking to a platform that doesn't care you're on it. Right. So specific be specific.

[00:04:48] CORY: Yeah. Yeah. 100%. And so I want to put this out there for anybody. We'll do free 30 minute calls with folks, uh, for different reasons. This can be a [00:05:00] good reason to help you. If you would like a little assistance in going through your who I know. You, we all say we can do it for ourselves, but sometimes it's nice to have somebody kind of walk you through the questions and that will help you identify exactly who you are, serving, who you want to serve. [00:05:42] RON: Absolutely. And, uh, we do this because we're going through this and Corey and I learned a long time ago like the best way to learn something is to teach it right away. Right. So it's always helpful to like come to someone that's [00:06:00] understanding what you're going through. There's a lot more empathy. We can ask very similar questions and we can help you through it quicker as again, shortening that learning.
