[00:00:00] CORY: Welcome to the impactors podcast. I'm Cory Carter
[00:00:04] RON: and I'm Ron. Cool.
[00:00:05] CORY: And we are the owners and founders of hindsight hacking media agency, podcast, funnels, graphics, and more head on over to get hhm.com to learn more
[00:00:15] RON: guys, we created this podcast to help you go create an impact today. Not tomorrow, not yesterday. Today. We're taking all the fluff, all the BS out, so you can go create an impact.
[00:00:32] CORY: And today's topic is
[00:00:34] RON: expert secrets book by Russell Brunson. And we're going to be talking about secret number one, finding your voice that is right, Ron.
[00:00:43] CORY: You know, we're going to dedicate this entire week to the book expert secrets. So much gold in there. And you know, when I went on that journey that you sent me on to find sideways marketing, quote, unquote, we still didn't quite figure [00:01:00] out what sideways marketing is, but we did discover funnels and the one funnel away challenge and click funnels.
[00:01:06] And I immediately purchased the book expert secrets and yeah, like it, let us down this online journey. Right away. So I thought, well, let's give tribute to it this week. Let's get tribute to Russell Brunson this week and expert secrets and let's dig in. So secret number one. Now I promise you folks. We're not going into every secret.
[00:01:28] We're just going into seven. Uh, the secrets, right? Seven of them. That stand out to me as, uh, everybody should hear and read and know, and, and so yeah, finding your voice wrong,
[00:01:40] RON: but if you wanted to get the book, I'm sure we'll have a link down below.
[00:01:44] CORY: I'm sure there'll be a link for anybody that wants the free book.
[00:01:47] Just got to pay a little shipping and handling and you're ready to go. So, um, all right. So finding your voice, I thought. We, when we figured out and heard and decided [00:02:00] that a, we heard we needed to publish and decided that we're going to publish, um, through that whole process, we had to really find our voice and, and it always, every time I think about this subject, it brings me back to.
[00:02:13] That first time we tried to record an intro and 30 seconds of audio that took us like two hours to
[00:02:21] RON: record. I got, we had to kick each other out of the room, so we wouldn't laugh. Right. Like it was, it was the hardest thing just to read a sentence. Right. And then since we didn't understand editing as, as well as we do now, like any time we made a mistake, We just started the whole thing over like, oh, we got to start all over.
[00:02:39] Instead of just understanding we could piece it together that you and I, and going back to the, finding your voice, I just don't feel we trusted. Just being
[00:02:51] CORY: ourselves. Right. We, we had the, the ever so great imposter syndrome. Right. And why would people [00:03:00] listen to us? Why would we, you know, what do we have to say that nobody else is saying?
[00:03:03] Right? Like, it, it was, it was strong in there as far as that imposter syndrome, but, uh, the finding your voice piece, like that stems beyond. Just a podcast and getting comfortable talking, right? Like it's it. You've got to learn and go through who you're serving. You've got to figure out who, uh, your audiences, who you want to talk to, what your offer is because the only then do you treat.
[00:03:28] Are able to find your voice.
[00:03:30] RON: Yeah. If you think about it, you talk differently to your mom than you talk to your dad. I talk differently to you than I would talk differently to your wife. I talked to my wife differently than I would talk to another woman. Right? So your voice is specific to the person you're talking to.
[00:03:48] So if you're trying to sell somebody, help somebody with something, you have to talk to that specific. Person or it's going to fall on deaf ears.
[00:03:58] CORY: Yeah. Yeah. [00:04:00] All right. Well, I thought, I thought we would recap real quick. I'm going to ask you a question. You give a quick answer on I'll move on to the next one, but there's, there's five phases of finding your voice.
[00:04:12] And so, um, you know, the first one is, has always kind of fun. It's obviously that the beginning, and that is the dreamer. What's your take on the dream.
[00:04:23] RON: I, I think I lived as the dreamer for years. Right. I'm going to do this someday. Right. And it was funny, Rachel and I were literally just talking about this like three months ago, not even three months ago, two months ago where, you know, we were, we were saving for.
[00:04:43] Someday to do something because we had these dreams that we were going to go do something someday, but life was passing us by and someday never came. Right. So I think as the dreamer, it's a great place to be, to get you [00:05:00] started, but it's not a place you want to live.
[00:05:03] CORY: Yeah. I mean the ultimate goal is you have a spark to do something.
[00:05:06] But you've got to the dreamer now has to put it into action, right? Like you've got to, you've got to actually identify things that you're interested in and then go do it. Like said, you know, HHM does graphics. You had an interest in graphics since you were. And so you dreamed about it for a long time and it took HHM before you really put it into action, right?
[00:05:28] Exactly. Exactly. So, so the dreamer, but then the next spot, and I think this is where I lived for a long, long time. Interesting. It is the reporter. Oh yeah.
[00:05:40] RON: Oh yeah. That's you that's you.
[00:05:42] CORY: So, so the reporter, I mean, this is, this is one. You're just digesting information, right? Like digesting it and then repeating, digesting, repeating, digesting, repeating.
[00:05:53] And I remember I would get so like enthralled with the details [00:06:00] of even like this book expert secrets. Right. Good. But it took a little bit to launch it. It took a little bit to, to move forward. I was just like, Ronnie, like here's what I
[00:06:09] RON: just learned.
[00:06:12] CORY: Here's what I just learned. I don't know what to do next, but here's what I learned. Right,
[00:06:16] RON: right. Oh, I remember. Cause I was like, let's do this. And it was funny because I think you and I switched at some point. Cause when I was ready to go, you weren't ready to go. Cause you were still like. Detailed mode, right?
[00:06:27] The second you got out of learning detail mode, you were ready to go. And for whatever reason, I was like, no, I don't think that. And, and we'd like to switch to.
[00:06:37] CORY: Yeah. Yeah. It's funny. Like, I mean, obviously all individuals go through these five phases. Right. And, and so, but every, every aspect, I mean, every bit of the business, I mean, we're, we're always in these different phases at any given time.
[00:06:53] Right. But the reporter me needing the details. And, and you know, for [00:07:00] you once you like pass the dreamer and you're ready to go, you just go and I'm like, wait a minute. I need to, I need some more details, buddy. Let's go, where are we
[00:07:09] RON: done yet? Isn't this over? Isn't it ready to go? Yup.
[00:07:12] CORY: And you know, the reporter like to go to live events and we learn, but then we don't do anything.
[00:07:18] And I'm like, I don't want to offer. 2019 and learned, and we still really didn't do anything right away.
[00:07:24] RON: Right, right. It's, it's crazy. And we're like in his world for stuff too. So it's, it's a very interesting thing. He's been on our other show multiple times. So it's weird when we actually trigger. And I think it was, cause I think we both work very well with deadlines.
[00:07:41] I think that's what changed both of us to be on the same. Especially when it comes to the podcast, the podcast it's hindsight hacking. Right? So it was launching on January 1st, 2020. There was not another optional date that we could. [00:08:00] Push that if we wanted to hit the 20, 20 hindsight, 2020 thing, right. We could have went the second or third, but that's not as fun.
[00:08:07] Right. We wanted it on the first day of 2020. So it didn't matter if it was perfect. If we had all the details. No. But the deadline mattered and we don't miss that
[00:08:22] CORY: line. Yep. A hundred percent. We don't miss deadlines at all. All right. Phase three. And this again, I remember, uh, As we've worked through the multiple offers and find, found our place and where we love to do and who we love to serve.
[00:08:40] Like we were in this phase, phase three, building your own frameworks.
[00:08:46] RON: It's I love this. So not only building your own frameworks, I, I was, I was telling Rachel, you can create your own reality, right? And you can create. If you're [00:09:00] passionate enough about it and you're meant to do it,
[00:09:06] you can create anything you want your life to be period. And I, and a framework is just a way of being a way of doing what you're trying to do, put it in steps so you can teach it. It's all a framework is right. Yeah.
[00:09:24] CORY: But all this stuff. Do and learn and what, what you're offering. I mean, it's just a matter of how do you make it, so it's easily digestible and repeatable and that, you know, can become your framework.
[00:09:35] Right? So that's a fun one. Uh, but phase number four. And it's so funny to like go through this and mentally like walk through
[00:09:43] RON: our last semester. And, um, I have visual pictures of what's going on. Um,
[00:09:47] CORY: all right. Phase four, working for free.
[00:09:52] RON: Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. You know, I, I will tell you, I [00:10:00] think we were lucky in this aspect or blessed, whichever you want to use.
[00:10:04] I'll use blast. We never worked for free. We worked for cheap, but never for free.
[00:10:14] CORY: Yeah, I dunno. We gave certain things.
[00:10:17] RON: But you're saying some things away, but we never did a lot of work for free. We just did it for really, really good prices. Yeah.
[00:10:28] CORY: I mean, we would like your, your case with John now, he paid you 50 bucks for cover art.
[00:10:33] Any of you spent five hours getting him on iTunes and all kinds of different things that. It was free. Like that was the free part, right? Like that's the kind of stuff that we've
[00:10:42] RON: done, but at the end of the day, I, I would still do that. Yeah. And I believe you, I know you've given away a ton of funnel stuff.
[00:10:51] Right. And, and because it's not, it's never about the money for us. It's about how can we help somebody get unstuck because we've been stuck. [00:11:00]
[00:11:01] CORY: Yeah, this is so fun. Um, all right. Phase five. And then we'll wrap the show up. Uh, phase five is really becoming the expert. Yes. So podcasting. Yes. We, you know, I fully believe anybody talks to us about podcasting.
[00:11:17] Like we're the experts and do we know everything? No. Are we perfect? No. Uh, can people do some things better than us? Absolutely. But we are the expert in podcasts. Great. So, um, you know, when, so my one comment of this is the five phases. Like it's it reiterates itself over and over as you, as we level up.
[00:11:39] Right? So from the audio, we went from an audio only making the cover arts and audio to do an, all of the other little things that comes from podcasts. And each time you start over, so I'm going to use guests booking right now. It's new, right? [00:12:00] It's, it's a new part of our, our, um, podcast co agency. And that is where in the, we were dreaming.
[00:12:08] And then we started reporting and you know, now we're starting to like build the frameworks, right? Like we're not the expert at it, but we're, we're at that like phase two to three with guest booking. So everybody, everything in your business can be at different phases depending on what what's going on.
[00:12:25] RON: Right, right. No, that's exactly. And, and I think it's important as you called out for every new product, new service, new thing that you do, you're going to go through these exact same. Right. And just know. You have to go through these steps and to get through them as quick as possible.
[00:12:45] CORY: Yep. Yep. Be aware. So, uh, all right.
[00:12:47] Link is in the show notes. Grab your copy of expert secrets. Uh, go read secret number one, and that find your voice.
[00:12:56] RON: Absolutely. No fluff, no BS. Just impact. go make some, [00:13:00] get the book.
